I’m I am – Portrait collection of contemporary advertising film professionals in 2011
Cannes, France June 19, 2011
I’m, I am is a unique collection of self portraits by Unusuals who turn the spotlight back on themselves. Unusuals are the people all around the globe who make up the advertising film business. They write concepts, bring ideas to reality & make companies more than just a set of walls. They plead passionately for businessmen & women to spend their money more creatively. They roam the planet in search of perfection and, deeply spoiled, they would sleep on a park bench for a week to get the perfect shot or save a great location. Most of these people’s friends are also in the business. Who else, after all, should understand them? Their parents just wanted them to become a dentist.
The 100 people featured in this book form a portrait of Unusuals. Although they represent only a small fraction of the Unusuals network, they embody its diversity & demographic in its sixty markets at the time of publication. The incredible diversity, even on this scale, catches our attention immediately: Senior-Creative-worldwide-bad-ass-agency- motherfuckers from the U.S. are juxtaposed with humble assistants from a fresh, developing new market. This reminds us that neither of them can effectively work without the other & each is an irreplaceable piece in the greater puzzle we call the worldwide advertising film industry. Although separated by the corner office or by the corners of the globe, all of these Unusuals share a common spirit. Define that how you will (a soul, a spirit, a pulse burning with fire, or just “up for sale”), it’s this creative spirit that Unusuals is all about.
This limited, first edition is printed in 800 copies. Contact us to receive yours. If you or your colleagues will be in Cannes, we’d love to meet you. info@unusuals.net
